JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) ? Hundreds of cats removed from a Florida cat sanctuary will be up for adoption over the weekend.

Nearly 700 cats were removed from the Caboodle Ranch in Lee in February. Authorities said the animals were kept in ?dire conditions.? The owner faces multiple animal cruelty charges.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Jacksonville Humane Society are putting up the cats for adoption Saturday and Sunday in Jacksonville, Clearwater and Sarasota.

The animal advocates say most of the cats have medical problems, but most are treatable. They also say that while most of the cats would make good family pets, some would be better suited as ?barn cats.?

All adoption fees will be waived. All the cats will be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated.
